- Initiates and facilitates classroom discussions
- Evaluates class work, assignments, and papers
- Prepares course materials such as handouts, etc.
- Lectures on topics such as politics, government policies, world history
- Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records
- Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content and materials, and methods of instruction
- Administers internal and state exams
- Advises and assists students
- Keeps abreast of current events and policies by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences
- Selects and maintains instructional supplies
- Advises students on academic and career issues
- Publishes research findings in professional journals, books, and/or electronic media
- Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
- Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues
- Participates in campus and community events
- Participates in student recruitments
- Provides afterschool assistance to students
- Performs administrative duties as needed by principal
- Conducts test prep for mandated tests such as the FCAT, EOC, and ACT
